How to order

Every cover is cut to your grill, so we quote each one individually. Email us at sales@tarpaulinscompany.co.uk or call us with your measurements and we will confirm the price, the options and the lead time before you commit to anything.

The ten measurements we need, all in centimetres:

  1. Height — the full vertical height of the whole setup, from the top edge down to the floor.
  2. Depth — front to back across the top of the table or grill.
  3. Width — side to side along the front of the table or grill.
  4. Right side width — from the right edge of the table in to the grill.
  5. Left side width — from the left edge of the table in to the grill.
  6. Width of the grill hood including the handle — across the dome, handle to handle.
  7. Circumference of the grill hood — measured around the widest part of the dome, taken from table level.
  8. Height of the grill hood — from the table surface up to the top of the dome.
  9. From the counter edge to the front of the grill — including any handle projection. Built-in grills only.
  10. From the counter edge to the back of the grill — including any handle projection. Built-in grills only.

Measure edge to edge and give us the exact figures — do not add anything for slack. We add roughly 2.5 cm of leeway to the width and depth ourselves so the cover pulls on and off easily, and the height is made exactly as you give it. If you would rather have no leeway at all, tell us and we will make it that way. A photo of your grill always helps, so please attach one.

Options available

Tie-downs

  • Drawstring — a cord and lock through the hem lets you pull the cover in as tight as you want and hold it there. Our standard choice.
  • Elastic at bottom — extra-strength elastic grips the hem on its own, so the cover stays put through the seasons.
  • Push clips to secure legs — clips fasten around the legs of the nest or table. Worth having on exposed, windy sites.
  • Elastic at bottom + push clips — both together, for the most secure hold in strong wind.
  • Split zip — a waterproof zip that makes a large cover far easier to place and remove, and gives partial access without taking the whole cover off.
  • No tie down — a plain hem.

Splits

A split can run through the centre or down a side, so you can reach the grill without lifting the whole cover off. Splits come as a zipped split or a velcro split. Please note that where a split is fitted it becomes impractical to also fit a drawstring or straps, so we will talk that through with you before making it.

Grommets

Optional rust-free brass eyelets at every 15 cm, 30 cm or 60 cm, so you can rope or bungee the cover down. Size #2 — 9 mm inner, 19 mm outer diameter.

Air bags

Inflatable cushions that lift the sunken points of the cover so rainwater runs off instead of collecting in pools. Three sizes: 25 × 25 cm, 25 × 56 cm and 56 × 56 cm.

Air vents

Every cover comes with at least two covered air vents as standard, which let trapped moisture escape. Air mesh cannot be fitted if the cover height is under 60 cm.

Printed logo or text

Available on DuraWeave and DuraShield — not on DuraLite. Send us a logo file or the text you want printed, and tell us the font and colour. Printing is on the front of the cover. We size the artwork to suit the cover and confirm it with you by email before anything is printed.

Dual-tone finish

Two-tone colours are available on DuraShield, but cannot be produced if the cover height is under 30 cm.

Why a shaped cover matters

  • A kamado is not a box. The domed hood, the side shelves and the nest or counter it sits in all change the shape. A generic cover drapes over it; a shaped one follows it. That is why we ask for ten measurements rather than three.
  • Protects a serious investment. The bands, hinges and metalwork corrode first. A cover that actually fits keeps rain off the hardware rather than funnelling it in.
  • No trapped damp. A loose cover holds moisture against the ceramic and the gasket. A shaped cover with vents sheds water and lets moisture out.
  • Ready to cook. No wiping down dust, pollen, bird mess or frost before you light it.
  • Buy once. With warranties of 5, 7 or 10 years depending on fabric, you are replacing this far less often than a generic barbecue cover.

Frequently asked questions

Which fabric should I choose?
For a sheltered patio and mainly summer use, DuraLite is enough. If the grill lives outside all year or sits somewhere exposed and windy, choose DuraWeave. For a commercial kitchen, a rooftop or a venue — or if you simply want the longest life and the best finish — choose DuraShield.

Which tie-down should I pick?
Drawstring is the standard and suits most grills. Elastic grips on its own and is the quickest to fit. Push clips hold the cover down in wind, which matters on a tall domed grill. A split zip is worth it if the grill is built in or you cannot lift a one-piece cover over it — but remember a split and a drawstring do not work well together.

What is leeway, and do I add it myself?
Leeway is the small amount of extra fabric that lets a cover slide on and off instead of gripping like a drum skin. We add it — roughly 2.5 cm on the width and depth — so give us your exact measurements. The height is made exactly as you give it. If you want a cover with no leeway at all, just say so.

Will it fit a grill built into an island or counter?
Yes. That is what measurements 9 and 10 are for — they let us cut a cover that sits down onto the counter rather than over a freestanding unit.

Will water pool on top?
Less than on a flat surface, but the sunken points around the shelves can still collect water. Air bags lift those points so the water runs off instead.

What if my setup is unusual?
Send us a photo along with your measurements. We will check the shape before anything is cut.

How long does it take?
Every cover is made to order. We will confirm the lead time when we quote.

How do I look after it?
Let the grill cool completely before covering it. Rinse the cover with clean water and a soft brush. Do not machine wash, do not use bleach or solvents, and let it dry fully before folding it away.
