Made-to-measure waterproof covers for garden, patio and park benches, cut to your exact height, width and depth — including the lower front height, so the cover follows the slope of the seat instead of bunching at the front. Choose from three outdoor fabrics backed by 5, 7 or 10 year warranties.

How to order
Every cover is cut to your bench, so we quote each one individually. Email us at sales@tarpaulinscompany.co.uk or call us with your measurements and we will confirm the price, the options and the lead time before you commit to anything.
The four measurements we need, all in centimetres:
- Height — from the ground to the top of the backrest.
- Width — the full length of the bench, arm to arm.
- Depth — front to back, at the widest point.
- Front height — from the ground to the front edge of the seat. This is what lets the cover drop cleanly down the front instead of hanging loose.
Measure edge to edge and give us the exact figures — do not add anything for slack. We add roughly 2.5 cm of leeway to the width and depth ourselves so the cover pulls on and off easily, and the height is made exactly as you give it. If you would rather have no leeway at all, tell us and we will make it that way. A photo of your bench always helps, so please attach one.
Options available
- Fastening — drawstring, elastic hem, push clips around the legs, elastic and clips together, or a split zip. A split can also be fitted so you can get to the bench without lifting the whole cover off; note that where a split is fitted it becomes impractical to also fit a drawstring or straps.
- Grommets — rust-free brass eyelets at your chosen spacing, so you can rope or bungee the cover down.
- Air bags — inflatable cushions that lift the sunken points of the cover so rainwater runs off instead of pooling on the seat.
- Fabric colour — a choice of colours on each fabric, including dual-tone finishes on DuraShield.
- Printed logo or text — useful if the bench is at a venue, a park or a memorial site.
- Air mesh vents — not available if the cover height is under 60 cm. Dual-tone finishes are not available under 30 cm.
Benefits
- The seat stays dry, not just covered. A bench collects water in the seat more than almost any garden furniture. A cover cut to the right front height sheds it off the front instead of holding a puddle where you sit.
- No flapping. An off-the-shelf cover either billows in wind or sits like a tent. Made to measure, it stays put.
- Protects the finish. Rain, UV fading, sap, pollen and bird mess all stop at the cover — which matters most on timber and painted metal benches.
- Buy once. With warranties of 5, 7 or 10 years depending on fabric, you replace this far less often than a cheap seasonal cover.
- Match the fabric to the spot. A sheltered patio and an exposed park are not the same job — three fabrics let you pay for the protection you actually need.
Frequently asked questions
Why do you need a separate front height?
Because a bench is not a box. The backrest is tall and the seat front is low. Giving us both heights means the cover follows that step down, rather than draping over it and collecting water in the fold.
Which fabric should I choose?
For a sheltered garden used mainly in summer, DuraLite is enough. If the bench is out all year or sits somewhere exposed and windy, choose DuraWeave. For a park, a venue or a commercial site — or if you simply want the longest life and the best finish — choose DuraShield.
Do I add extra to my measurements for slack?
No. Give us the exact figures. We add the leeway ourselves — roughly 2.5 cm on the width and depth. The height is made exactly as you give it. If you want no leeway at all, just say so when you order.
Which fastening should I pick?
Drawstring is the standard and suits most benches. Elastic grips on its own and is quickest to fit. Push clips around the legs hold best in wind. A split zip is worth it on a long bench you cannot easily lift a one-piece cover over.
Will water pool on top?
On a flat seat it can. Air bags lift the middle of the cover so the water runs off the sides instead of sitting on the seat.
Can I have a name or logo printed on it?
Yes. Tell us the text or send your artwork and we will confirm the size and placement with you by email before printing.
What if my bench is an unusual shape?
Send us a photo along with your measurements. We will check the shape before anything is cut.
How long does it take?
Every cover is made to order. We will confirm the lead time when we quote.
How do I look after it?
Rinse with clean water and a soft brush. Do not use bleach or solvents, and let it dry fully before folding it away.
